16.6. Lower lever of a forward suspension bracket

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

At installation it is necessary to use the new forelock of fastening of a nut of the spherical hinge and a nut of fastening of the stabilizer of cross resistance to the lower lever.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. In the presence take off a wheel cap, then weaken bolts of fastening of a wheel. Tighten the emergency brake, then lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports. Remove to a sootvetstvo a yushchy forward wheel.
2. Unscrew the nut fixing the end of the stabilizer of cross resistance to the lower lever. Remove dish-shaped washers and rubber pillows.
3. Take the forelock and unscrew a koronchaty nut of the spherical hinge connecting the lower lever of a forward suspension bracket from a resistant forward suspension bracket.
4. Using a stripper of spherical hinges, take a pin of the spherical hinge from a rotary fist.
5. Unscrew two hinged bolts fixing the lower lever to the lower forward frame (see rice. Arrangement of the forward hinged bolt fixing the lower lever of a forward suspension bracket to the lower forward frame).
Keep in mind that the back hinged bolt of the lower lever also fixes the lower forward frame to the car bottom.
Disconnect the lower lever from the lower forward frame and take it from under the car.
Keep in mind that on some models with engines of 2,0 l. the quencher of fluctuations which fastens bolts to the right lower lever is established. In this case, if replacement of the right lower lever is made, rearrange a quencher of fluctuations on the new lever.
Keep in mind that at installation of the lower lever metal plugs in back fastening of the lever can be not used.
Check a condition of the lower lever of a forward suspension bracket and if necessary, replace it. Dealers of Opel have on sale modified strengthened levers of a forward suspension bracket.
The modified lower lever differs on existence of a flange on a forward part of the lever and is installed on cars from the middle of 1993.
We interchange the modified strengthened lever of a forward suspension bracket with the lever which was earlier installed on cars.

Installation

The size of compression of the rubber pillow fixing the forward stabilizer of cross resistance to the lower lever
1 = 38,0 – 39,0 mm

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Install the lower lever on the lower forward frame, then screw in two hinged bolts and tighten them the required moment. At the same time hold the lower lever in horizontal position. You make tightening of a back bolt in several stages.
2. Establish a pin of the spherical hinge of the lower lever in a rotary fist and fix by a nut, having tightened it the required moment. Using the new forelock, record a nut from unscrewing.
3. Connect the stabilizer of cross stability to the lower lever. At the same time keep in mind that dish-shaped washers, the fixing rubber pillows, have to be directed by the concave party to the lower lever.
4. Tighten nuts of fastening of the stabilizer to the lower lever so that rubber pillows contracted at a certain size (see rice. The size of compression of the rubber pillow fixing the forward stabilizer of cross resistance to the lower lever). If necessary replace rubber pillows.
5. Establish a wheel and lower the car. Tighten bolts of fastening of a wheel and in the presence establish a wheel cap.
Check and, if necessary, adjust the angles of installation of forward wheels.
