GENERAL INFORMATION

Cutting of an internal flange from the plug of fastening of the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket

The correct arrangement of ledges on the plug of the longitudinal lever on models with the SOHC engine

Replacement of the plug of the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket can be made without removal of a back torsion beam.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. In the presence take off caps, then weaken bolts of fastening of back wheels. Lift a back part of the car and fix on supports. Remove back wheels.
2. On models with the self-leveled back suspension bracket take off pressure in system, having let out the air via the valve in the luggage compartment.
3. Disconnect brake hoses and the back ends of brake tubes from the car bottom.
4. Support by a jack through wooden whetstone a back torsion beam.
5. Unscrew nuts and take bolts, the fixing forward parts of longitudinal levers of a back suspension bracket to the car bottom.
6. Lower a jack so that access to plugs of longitudinal levers of a back suspension bracket was possible. Be careful that when lowering a jack not to deform brake tubes. For removal and installation of plugs it is desirable to use the special Opel tool. In the absence of the special tool replacement of plugs can be made with use of a long bolt, nut, washers and a piece of a steel tube of the corresponding diameter.
7. Before removal cut off a flange since the internal end of the plug (see rice. Cutting of an internal flange from the plug of fastening of the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket).
8. For simplification of removal of the plug heat a plug casing in the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket to 70 °. For heating do not use an open flame as a row located the fuel tank.
9. Take the plug from the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket.
10. Moisten the new plug with soap water and establish it into place so that ledges at an end face of the plug were located as shown in rice. The correct arrangement of ledges on the plug of the longitudinal lever on models with the SOHC engine.
11. Similarly replace the plug from the second party of the car. Replacement of plugs has to be made in pairs.
12. Using a jack, lift a back torsion beam and fix by bolts. Screw on nut bolts, without tightening them it is final. Take a jack from under the car.
13. Fix brake tubes and brake hoses on the car bottom.
14. Establish back wheels, then lower the car on the earth and tighten bolts of fastening of wheels the required moment.
15. On models with the self-leveled back suspension bracket increase in system pressure to 0,8 bars.
16. Install the car on the flat horizontal platform, then arrange freight weighing 70 kg on each forward sitting and shake the car in order that all elements of a back suspension bracket rose on the places.
17. Working under the car, an okonchatel but tighten nuts on the bolts fixing forward parts of longitudinal levers of a back suspension bracket to the car bottom.
