7.20. Check and adjustment of fuel mix on idling turns

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

On models with the catalyst it is impossible to adjust quality of fuel mix, and on models with system of injection of fuel adjustment of turns of idling is not provided. For adjustment of fuel mix on idling turns on models with system of injection Motronic for adjustment it is necessary to use a tachometer and the analyzer of exhaust gases.


SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF MULTEC FUEL

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If contents WITH in exhaust gases does not meet standard first of all check a condition of the filtering element of the air filter. Check a state and an interelectrode gap of spark plugs. Check a state and blocking of vacuum hoses and hoses of ventilation of a case of the engine. Check that there was no air suction in the entrance air route. Check that the case of a throttle and an inlet collector were not damaged. Check adjustment of a cable of an accelerator. If the engine works at single turns unstably, check a compression in engine cylinders. Check serviceability and reliability of connection of an electrical wiring and electric sockets. Replacement of the fuel filter you produce each 30 000 km of a run or once in 24 months. Check that there are no leaks from the exhaust system which can influence operation of the catalyst.

Adjustment

Fuel mix on idling turns completely is run by the electronic control device (ECU) and there is no possibility of manual adjustment. At the same time exact check can be made only with use of the special equipment at the station техничес whom service of Opel.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The only check which can be made it is verification of the contents WITH in exhaust gases. This check shows overall performance of the catalyst. Measurement is performed at turns of the engine of 3 000 rpm without loading. If contents WITH exceeds admissible limits, it is necessary to use the special equipment Opel for full check of system of injection of fuel and system of ignition. If the sound of the working engine at shutdown of system changes, means the catalyst is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF MONTRONIC FUEL

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For check and adjustment of fuel mix of idling satisfy the following conditions:

– warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature;
– disconnect everything electric consumers (the radiator fan also should not work);
– check and, if necessary, adjust interelectrode gaps of spark plugs; – adjust an accelerator cable;
– in system of air supply there should not be an air suction, and the air filter has to be pure.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect a tachometer and the analyzer of exhaust gases according to the instruction.
2. Start the engine, then by 30 sec. increase engine turns to 2000 rpm, then transfer the engine to the idling mode. Check idling turns. If turns of idling do not correspond to demanded, address on Opel service station.
3. If sootvt turns of idling stvut demanded, check contents WITH in exhaust gases. For adjustment of contents WITH in exhaust gases rotate the screw of adjustment of quality of mix located in the air stream measuring instrument. The screw is closed by a cap.
4. If in the course of adjustment the radiator fan turned on, stop adjustment and continue only it after switching off of the fan of a radiator.
5. After carrying out adjustment disconnect a tachometer and remove the analyzer of exhaust gases.

SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF SIMTEC FUEL

On models with system of injection of Simtec fuel adjustment of turns of idling and contents WITH is not provided in exhaust gases.
