7.16. Fuel tank

Removal

SOHC MODELS

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Removal of the fuel tank is made similarly, as well as on models with the carburetor taking into account the following differences:

– take off pressure in fuel system;
– on models with C16 NZ engines and X16 SZ disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from a final collector;
– at removal of the fuel level sensor from the fuel tank remove only one hose;
– disconnect a fuel hose and the electric socket from the fuel pump;
– at removal of a belt of fastening of the fuel tank displace the fuel filter aside or completely remove it;
– one of hoses of supply of fuel connects to the pipe located sideways the fuel tank.

DOHC MODELS

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Through a pipe of a fuel-filling mouth pump out fuel from the fuel tank.
3. Lift a back part of the car and record on supports.
4. Open a cover of a fuel-filling mouth of the fuel tank, then turn off the lower part of rubber consolidation and unscrew the screw fixing a pipe of a fuel-filling mouth (see rice. Arrangement of the screw of fastening of a pipe of a fuel-filling mouth).
5. Release drainage hoses from fastening brackets on the car bottom.
6. Support by a jack through wooden whetstone the fuel tank.
7. Unscrew bolts, the fixing belts of fastening of the fuel tank. Take off belts of fastening of the fuel tank, you priopustit the fuel tank and disconnect from it fuel supply hoses, hoses of ventilation and the electric socket from the fuel level sensor (see rice. Arrangement of a bolt of fastening of a belt of the fuel tank).
8. Mark and disconnect fuel hoses from the fuel tank and the fuel level sensor. Close the ends of hoses suitable traffic jams.
9. Lower the fuel tank down and take it from under the car.
10. Visually check a condition of the fuel tank outside. Using pure fuel, wash away a raid from internal walls of the fuel tank.
11. If in the fuel tank there is a deposit or water, remove the fuel level sensor and wash out the fuel tank a large amount of pure fuel. In the presence on the fuel tank of mechanical damages restore the fuel tank in a specialized workshop or replace it.
Prevention

Do not restore the fuel tank independently with application of welding or the soldering as in a tank there are fuel vapors which are explosive.


Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal. Check that all hoses are connected according to the marking put before removal.
2. To examine chains. If on plugs of a chain there are cracks, chips or considerable wear tracks, chains to replace.
