13:18. Removal and installation of the automatic transmission



Do not remove the transmission from the car for repair before malfunction as the majority of tests demands that the transmission was in the car is not professionally revealed.


1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Merge transmission liquid.
3. Disconnect five electric sockets from switches, electromagnetic blocks and sensors, then release an electrical wiring from fastening brackets.
4. Disconnect a gear shifting cable from the lever of the choice of transfers on the transmission, then unscrew bolts of fastening of an arm of support of a cable or take a cable from an arm. Move a cable from the transmission aside and, using a soft wire, tie up it to a body.
5. Take a hose of ventilation of a case of the automatic transmission from under an accumulator arm, at the same time take it from fastening brackets.
6. Disconnect the electric socket and an electrical wiring of the sensor of oxygen.
7. Disconnect a speedometer drive cable from the transmission.
8. Disconnect from the transmission hoses of supply of transmission liquid to a radiator.
9. Support the engine about its left support. For support of the engine it is necessary to use the special Opel tool No. KM-263. Alternatively the engine can be supported from an ispolzov niy the load-lifting mechanism.
10. In the presence take off caps from wheels, then weaken bolts of fastening of forward wheels. Tighten the emergency brake, then lift a forward part of the car and record on supports. Keep in mind that the car has to be lifted rather highly in order that from under it it was possible to take the transmission. Remove forward wheels.
11. Check that the engine is reliably supported, then remove a forward lower frame.
12. Take internal hinges of power shafts from differential and, using a soft wire, suspend power shafts to a car body. Close openings for shaft in the transmission suitable traffic jams.
13. Unscrew three bolts fixing a protective plate of the transmission then note a relative positioning гидротран a sformator and a plate of the drive. A wrench for a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft turn a bent shaft of the engine in such situation that one of bolts of fastening of the hydrotransformer was available. The screw-driver or mount for teeths of a gear wreath record a drive plate from a provorachivaniye and unscrew a bolt of fastening of the hydrotransformer. Turn a bent shaft of the engine and similarly unscrew the remained two bolts.
14. Support by a jack through wooden whetstone the transmission.
15. Remove the left support of the transmission for what unscrew two bolts fixing a rubber pillow to a body of the car and three bolts fixing a support arm to the transmission.
16. Check reliability of support of the transmission, then unscrew the remained bolts of fastening of the transmission to the engine.
17. Lower the transmission and take it from under the car.
18. Move the hydrotransformer on an entrance shaft to a case of the transmission and record it in this situation. For this purpose it is possible to use the steel strip screwed by bolts.


Use of the special tool for tightening of bolts of fastening of the hydrotransformer

1. Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal taking into account the next moments:

– if at removal from a hydrotransform the Torah flowed out transmission liquid, fill in it to norm. Wipe the hydrotransformer plug that at installation not to damage a sealing ring of an entrance shaft of the transmission and check that the hydrotransformer was correctly combined with a pump shaft;
– if replacement of the automatic transmission is made, wash out channels of a radiator for cooling of transmission liquid;
– using a tap of M10 x 1,25 clear a carving of openings for fastening гидротран a sformator and at installation a hydrotrance of a formator use new bolts;
– using a tap, clear a carving in a body opening for fastening of the left support of the power unit. Use new bolts for fastening of the left support of the power unit to a body;
tighten all nuts and bolts the required moment;
– for tightening of bolts of fastening of the hydrotransformer to a plate of the drive it is necessary to use the special tool (see the drawing);
– adjust a cable of gear shifting and fill in transmission liquid in the transmission.
