6.4. The block of adjustment of temperature of the air coming to the engine

GENERAL INFORMATION

The block of adjustment of temperature of the air coming to the engine

The block of adjustment of temperature of a postup of air, yushchy in the engine, maintains optimum air temperature for combustion of fuel with the minimum quantity of emissions of harmful substances.

Optimum temperature of the air given to the engine is reached by mixing of the fresh cold air arriving from a zabornik of air on the forward party of the car with the air which is warmed up by a final collector. The proportion of the warmed-up and cold air is regulated by the provision of a folding shutter in the block in front of the air filter. The block of adjustment is operated either a vacuum diaphragm or the wax capsule. The vacuum diaphragm is run by temperature sensor located in the case of the air filter (see the drawing).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. A temperata ры the air coming to the engine begin to make check of the block of adjustment on the cold engine. First of all check the provision of a folding shutter for what on the vacuum regulator uncover the air filter and be convinced that the folding shutter is completely open. At completely open folding shutter cold air comes to the engine. Start the engine and check that the folding shutter moved, passing the air which is warmed up by a final collector in the engine. If the wax capsule is installed in the block of adjustment, the folding shutter on the cold engine has to be in the provision of a transmission in the engine of the air which is warmed up by a final collector.

2. Temporarily install a cover on the vacuum regulator.

3. Start the engine and warm up it up to the working temperature.

4. Uncover the vacuum regulator and check that a folding shutter of ustan Lena in the provision of a transmission in the engine only of cold air. At low temperatures of external air the shutter has to be established in the provision of mixing of the cold and warmed-up air. On models with the wax capsule, using a mirror, check the provision of a folding shutter which has to be same, as well as at the vacuum regulator.

5. If the folding shutter does not work as it is required, replace the case of the air filter.
