3.5.3. Adjustment of a tension

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

For measurement of a tension of a gear belt it is necessary to use the special Opel tool No. KM-666. In the absence of this tool the tension of a gear belt can be adjusted manually approximately, but after that it is necessary to address as soon as possible on service station for adjustment of the correct tension of a gear belt.

Adjustment without special measuring tool

You make adjustment of a tension of a gear belt on the cold engine.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a casing of a gear belt and, having weakened a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension, check that VMT tags on pulleys of the camshaft and a bent shaft were combined with indexes. If necessary tighten a bent shaft that tags were combined.

2. Turn a tension mechanism pulley to a gear belt so that in the center of the longest branch of a belt the belt could be turned on 45 ° hand fingers, putting moderate effort.

3. Turn a bent shaft of the engine clockwise on two whole revolutions and check that VMT tags on pulleys of a bent shaft and camshafts were combined with indexes.

4. Establish an external casing of a gear belt. Check that rubber sealing rings in openings under screws fell into place, then fix a casing by screws.

5. Establish a belt of the drive of the generator and adjust its tension.

6. Establish a belt of the drive of the pump of the amplifier of steering and adjust its tension.

7. Install the air filter.

8. Connect a weight wire to the accumulator.

9. After adjustment of a tension of a gear belt at the first opportunity address on service station for carrying out adjustment with use of special tools.

Adjustment with use of the special Opel KM-666 tool

Note the seventh tooth located counterclockwise from VMT tag on a pulley of the camshaft operating final valves.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. You make adjustment of a tension of a gear belt on the cold engine.

2. Remove a casing of a gear belt and, having weakened a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension, check that VMT tags on pulleys of the camshaft and a bent shaft were combined with indexes. If necessary tighten a bent shaft that tags were combined.

3. According to the instruction install the special KM-666 tool on a tension mechanism pulley arm.

4. Note the seventh tooth, considering counterclockwise from VMT tag on a pulley of the camshaft operating final valves (see the drawing).

5. Turn a bent shaft of the engine clockwise before combination of noted tooth with the index of the top dead point on a cover of a head of the block of cylinders. Rotate a bent shaft evenly and smoothly to exclude jumping of a gear belt on teeths of pulleys. Tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension the required moment.

6. Remove the special tool.

7. Turn a bent shaft of the engine clockwise before combination of a tag of the top dead point on a pulley of a bent shaft. At the same time check that tags of the top dead point on pulleys of camshafts were combined with indexes.

8. Establish an external casing of a gear belt. Check that rubber condense telny rings in openings under screws fell into place, then fix a casing by screws.

9. Establish a belt of the drive of the generator and adjust its tension.

10. Establish a belt of the drive of the pump of the amplifier of steering and adjust its tension.

11. Install the air filter.

12. Connect a weight wire to the accumulator.
