1.3.2.6. Check of level of oil in the automatic transmission

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Check of level of oil in the automatic transmission can be made on the cold transmission (temperature below 35 °C) or on the hot transmission (after a trip on distance about 20 km). Because oil level in the automatic transmission is checked at I work the shchy engine, tighten the emergency brake.

Arrangement of tags of level of oil depending on transmission temperature

Cold transmission

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Install the car on the flat horizontal platform and tighten the emergency brake.
2. Start the engine in the mode of idling and, having pressed a brake pedal, move the selector lever to all provisions and establish in situation P.
3. During the operation of the engine idling, take the probe for measurement of level of oil in the transmission, wipe it and repeatedly establish into place, then take it once again. Oil level on the probe has to be between the marks MAX and MIN from the probe with an inscription of +20 °C.
4. If oil level low, then add oil through an opening for the probe.
5. Always support oil level between two tags of the probe. Shortage of oil can lead to serious breakages of the transmission.
6. If there is a need to often add oil, then, so leak which needs to be found and eliminated until it did not lead to serious consequences takes place.

Hot transmission

Measurement of level of oil on the hot transmission is performed in the same way, as well as on the cold transmission, but the level of oil is checked from the probe with an inscription of +80 °C.

Check of a condition of oil

When checking level of oil in the automatic machine to the chesky transmission also check a condition of oil. For simplification of check of a condition of oil compare color, a smell and viscosity of oil to new oil.

If oil in the transmission dark or almost black with a burned smell, so frictional overlays of the transmission are worn-out.

If oil in the transmission has dairy color, so water got to it. It can occur at a constant of an eksplu of a tation of the car on short trips. If color of oil does not change after a long trip, it is necessary to replace oil.

If oil has dark brown color and sticky, it can be because of an overheat of the transmission or too high level of oil in a box. If replacement of oil does not yield result, the car needs to be presented to the specialized workshop Opel.

If when checking level of oil or replacing oil at an automatic box at oil there are particles of dirt or metal shaving, it is necessary to make diagnostics or repair of the automatic transmission on spetsializ of the rovanny station technical serve Opel vaniye.
